Hi, I’m Lewis!
The founder of Body & Brain.

I’ll cut straight to it. I’ve always been a “big” lad, right from my childhood. At 28 years old, I was 145kg (just under 23 stone)! However, I’ve ALWAYS been active. I played Rugby between the ages of seven and sixteen, and when I stopped playing Rugby I started playing American Football right up until I had to retire from all sports and exercise at 29 (more on that later). On top of that, I was in the gym four days per week to improve my performance on the pitch.

Due to that, I thought I had the green-light to just eat and drink whatever I wanted. I mean, I was training hard, and I needed to be big and strong for my sport, so it was justified, right? I’d never really cared about what I looked like, or paid much attention to my health because I was pretty fit all things considered. I was performing well, enjoyed my life, and was genuinely happy.

Until I wasn’t.

What happened next was a pretty quick succession of events…

First, I had an enlightening experience at a music festival in the summer of 2019. I was surrounded by people and for the first time in my life I felt out of place. I felt uncomfortable. To put it plainly, I was disgusted with where I’d let myself get to. I vowed there and then that things were going to change immediately (well, after the obligatory hangover Domino’s obviously).

The following day I started paying attention to my food, making better overall life choices, and training harder than ever. And it worked. I lost around 30kg!

During this time, I found a genuine passion for all things health, training, and nutrition, but more importantly for helping people turn their lives around, just like I was. So just like that I quit my job, and started on the long road to get into coaching!

Do you need accountability?

Then in November of 2019, I had a routine check-up on my heart. To cut a very-long story very-short, I was born with a dodgy ticker and had been having it monitored since I found out in early 2018. The results from my check-up came back and things had taken a turn for the worse.

I was classed as “borderline intervention”, and that meant that I had to stop all forms of exercise apart from walking immediately. Rather than letting this derail my efforts, I used it to spur me on. By just focussing on my food, I managed to lose a further 35kg.

Now in true, cliché fitness industry fashion, whilst my physical changes were absolutely huge. (potentially life-saving, according to the Doctors), the non-visible changes were even larger. That’s exactly why I created Body & Brain.

I’m a firm believer that to achieve life-changing, physical results, you need to get a genuine handle on your headspace too. To me, being “healthy” encompasses both your physical and mental wellbeing, so it’s really important to pay adequate attention to both.

My “WHY” is simple:

I want to be the person that I needed way back in my teens and early twenties. Someone who has the both the knowledge and the compassion to help, along with having first-hand experience of going through the process.

The person that understands what it’s truly like to need to make a change, and excels at bringing out the best in people when they need it the most.

I’ll do everything within my power to make sure that after working with me, you’ll never have to pay for a coach again.
